  • Right knee aching....

my right knee is aching especially during leg presses....i haven't tried doing any squats on it

leg extenstions and hamstring curls don't really bother me

should i continue to do leg extensions and hamstring curls while my knee is sore or should i just completely lay off of it? another alternative is should i try doing weightless exercises, like squats without a weight, or plyometrics

i got a baseball game this saturday, and it doesn't erally bother me while i run

I'm really trying to build mass in my lower body tho and it doesn't seem to be building nearly as fast as my upper body

I personally would see a doc to figure out exactly what it is. I certainly wouldn't do any heavy training if it hurts-you only get one pair of knees!

For one I would not do plyometrics at all as they are hard enough on the body when someone is healthy. i would let it rest or at the least just stick with movements that don't aggravate it when lifting. and icing after working out is always a good thing as it speeds the recovery process.

it could be a lot of different things depending on where the ache is and how it's brought about, it could be simple inflamation, it could be an over-use injury, or it could be a partial tear. if you have any doubts see a dr., in the meantime there are tons of sites on the web that'll say what it most likely is depending on the area/severity etc...

it's gone (i didn't lift or do any running with it for a few days), but it's kinda weird...this isn't the first time its happened and it's not a severe pain so nothing is torn

the only time it noticeably hurts is on the leg press machine and sometimes when i play basketball if i'm shooting a free throw when i bend in my knees i can feel it.....or sometimes when i bend down to get the momentum to jump up high for a rebound i can feel it....but it's just occasionally it's not something that has stuck with me consistently, just every other month or every handful of weeks

              it never gets swollen

Dosn't sound like it's completely healed. Stuff like that takes alot longer to heal than the pain just going away. You may also be doing the exercises wrong to keep irratating it.

Sometimes people just tweek their knees and it will bother them for awhile. Glad to hear it has gone away, but when it comes back just take some time off of it. As mentioned before by BigJ the ACL is nothing fuck with. I had the ACL replaced it my right knee it will never be the same.....one good thing from it though...IU can tell when it is going to rain...knee starts to hurt! Probably something to do with the drop in barometric pressure.

its probably just some overuse unrelated to weightlifting, i play pickup basketball regularly and when i played i usually play from about 4:30 till night falls around 8:00 or 8:30, and i play 2 or 3 times a week.....its probably just all the running and jumping on the concrete

yeah, that'll do it, especially on concrete. anyone else hear of concrete being particularly bad on the knees? i've been told by avid runners to avoid concrete and aim for grass, dirt, or even asphalt instead of it. i'm just wondering if there's any truth to that?

i've heard it from everyone, altho i'd say if concrete was bad for your knees, then asphalt couldn't be any better

i always run on concrete anyway simply because i don't like getting my nice running shoes all muddy

Extended periods on concrete can be a real killer on the knees, especially when coupled with very cold weather and strenuous physical activities because the impact absorbtion is primarily diffused through the skeletal system. I use to work construction for a number of years in the northeast and it took a bit of a toll on my knees. If I run, it's usually on grass or a cinder track. Mostly I stay with low-impact type cardio.

what kind of shoes are you using while legpressing? running shoes will give you some problems for they dont provide enough support, therefore more stress on the knees
