  • Shoulder Workout

Had surgery last year and finally able to get back into the gym. For shoulder I have really been doing all the exercises learn in therapy which mostly revolves around dumbells. Front and side raises and then laying on the side working the inside and outside of the shoulder. I have also been doing shrugs which I also did in therapy.

I was told not too do military press because it was stressful on the shoulder.
Or there any other exercises you guys can recommend to put some mass on the shoulders with out the stress.

Is the Hammer Strength press easier on the shoulder, the machine does not look like it moves straight up. I am concerned that I cannot do enough shoulder exercises to build up the shoulder.

    Thanks for help

Unfortunately the military presses are the bread and butter of building shoulder mass. I don't think you can do upright rows either. Perhaps using cables for your flys every so often might benefit you.

IMO, I would listen to the doctor's advice on this one. There would be nothing worse than reinjuring it. Ask your doc what you can do and stick to those until it's fully recovered.

Yea man, rest your shoulder for a while, when it gets better you can punish it.

it is very possible to build huge shoulders without the press

stick to your laterals, vary the way you perform reps (ie static holds, dropsets etc)
upright rows........not a huge fan, defenitly not a staple exercise.

just eat, eat and eat clean, and your shoulders WILL grow
