As usual I was involved in another debate yesterday. So I bring it to you seeing I've been out of the game for a bit. Is pre-contest cardio today still a must? Or has diet and drugs been able to eliminate it completely? It's been close to 10 years since I last competed and cardio was mandatory pre contest. I personally didn't really know anyone who could get away with out doing it. Especially the majority of amateur level competitors. Am I correct in saying cardio is needed to be done to some extent? Obviously its dependant on the person but I am referring to the majority.

I don't know a pro who does not do cardio. Dexter used to not do it, but even he does it now and it has made a difference in how shredded he gets. I'd say cardio is an absolute must to get all areas shredded. I think you can get very lean without it, but to get all areas (weak points of some individuals) equally shredded, the cardio is important for mobilizing fat cells.

I was juts about to mention dexter! He used to not train abs as well! Its as simple as "if you can get to contest shape without cardio, think about how much harder your can come in with cardio in your routine, and doing cardio allows you to take in more carbs"!Originally posted by BBAddictI don't know a pro who does not do cardio.
