Were you keeping your elbows to your sides? How far apart were you hands? Close grips are awesome, if you're not feeling it, then you're doing something wrong.

i'm doing it with the straight bench bar, hands are about nipple width appart and I kept my form strict, elbows in and a straight push from the chest, my last set I had a 120lbs on plus the 45lb bar. Should I use the ez curl bar? and maybe press the weight more above my forehead?

Maybe try moving your grip in closer. I keep them about 6 inches apart. Keep using the straight bar. When your elbows go down, do you let them flare outwards or do you keep them close to your chest? Possibly try focusing on going half way down and going to full extension at the top.
