Once a joint is dislocated, the surrounding tissue is stretched and injured. Strengthening the muscles is VERY important as another disclocation would be more likely. For now, rest up and take some time off. In a few weeks, you will want to start your rehab. This will consists of some "girly" movements like scissors exercise on the floor. Once you are strong enough to do those, move up to the hip abductor, then finally, up to hanging leg raises. Never stop doing those abductors either as it will help prevent a future injury.
Maybe Shibby can help a little more with the time frames.

:agree: I'm convinced that strengthening the adductor and abductor are crucial to do along with general leg strengthening, particularly for functional training for sports.Originally posted by shortzNever stop doing those abductors either as it will help prevent a future injury.

The shoulder subluxation's I have seen took 3-4 weeks to be back to full strenght. These were baseball players. The hip and the shoulder joints are similar in structure, so I would say about that, maybe a little longer since it won't get quite the immidiate rest a shoulder would, since you need to walk around. If you have a crutch, that would really help. It's really hard to say though because it all depends on how much damage was done.Last edited by Shibby; 08-09-05, 11:14 PM.
