  • What padding do you use for deads?

    by padding i mean what on the floor if you have a home gym

    my weights are in the basement which has a cemented floor so right now i'm not going as heavy as i would like on deads because if my grip slips i dont want the ground to crack my plates

    a few things i was thinking of was the padding that's in gyms, its like 3 inches thick...I saw some at sportsauthority but it was like 3ft x 6ft and would those be thick enough to handle dropping the weight on the floor without eventually cracking my plates?

    i was also thinking of going to buy some pillows, but i thought that could make the initial lift a little bit uneven and awkward

    and in PT they had a big foam block for when you would be on your knees to do whatever exercise...i was thinking of getting two big foam blocks but i don't know where to find those....


    if i am to go with the pads that are used at most gyms should i drop down two pads instead of 1 on the ground for extra padding?
