  • Forced Reps

First off just wanted to let everyone I'm new to this site. I've been checking out the site for a few days now and really liked it...so I decided to join.

I'm curious to what everyone thinks of forced reps. I've done a lot of reading on the internet and it seems majority thinks its a good way to build strength if done properly. Others says there is a chance of doing more harm than good.

So what do you guys think???

    Again...Great Site!!

They're benefitial to your workout to use every so often, but not on a frequent basis. Great to add to change things up or break through plateaus, but shouldn't be a staple.

i like them they seem to help me past a point.....normally i will only use them on fatigue tho.....like i if i cant get a bench for more than 5 than ill have someone help me out on the last 3 so that im getting 8 reps and burning the muscle....gotta be careful tho easy way to pull or strain a muscle

Is this overtraining? My buddy thinks this isnt even close to overtraining. To me its way to many forced reps in that short of duration. I figured maybe 2-3 forced reps in an entire 6-week phase. His max bench is around 235 i think?

        Sunday (heavy weight)
        1st set - 5 reps
        2nd set - 5 reps
        3rd set - 3 forced reps

        Thursday (heavy weight)
        1st set - 5 reps
        2nd set - 5 reps
        3rd set - 3 forced reps

        ...for 6 weeks

        On a side note. Nice bike Beefcake. I have a 2005 ZX-10R (titanium color). The best i ran was 10.32 @ 140mph. I cold never get my launching down...always around a 1.8-2.0 60ft.
