  • Standing DB Curl vs. Incline Bench DB Curl

Is one better than the other? I know its good to have a variety...I'm just curious. Thanks.

Best to use both, but the incline bench puts the long head of the bicep in a prestretched position. It helps to increase tension in that area, somewhat isolating and emphasizing that portion.

Definitely use both. I really like the incline bench because it prestretches the muscle. Another thing to try is facing the bench in an inclined setup and then doing dumbell curls. You don't get the same stretch but you put stress on the muscle much differently and put more stress on it at max contraction. Just keep things mixed up--few lifts are good for every workout forever.

That is a good method as well, even with bb. I think it's even better than using the flat side of the preacher.

would either of them add more mass than the other? I think i will try facing the incline bench...

I've always heard that the standing barbell curl is best curl for mass. I don't know why physiologically that would be true, but it's what I've heard and I like it as a staple and the first exercise for bis. I also know that it is hard on some peoples wrists, but a ez-curl bar takes a lot of that stress off.
