How far apart should your hands be for this?

I've heard closer they are together the more it isolates your tri's.
    I've heard 6-8 inches inbetween.
    I've seen about 12-14 inches.

Depends on what feels comfortable for you. If your hands are too close you're going to have problems balancing the weight. If you're worrying about balance, you're not going to be able to concentrate fully on what you're doing. And obviously, your wrists are going to be at an awkward angle the closer together they are. I usually go with a grip just inside my shoulders.

That's what works the best for me. You will kill your wrists if you go much closer. Try to manipulate where your elbows are located and you should be able to get the right motion (my elbows stay right next to my body during close grip and are more flared outward during a regular pressing motion).

Your elbows need to be able to get to the sides of your chest w/o flaring out, which would be bad biomechanically and would put too much stress on joints and would take the stress off the tris, so the grip just inside the shoulders works just about right.

I do about 6 inches in between when my thumbs are extended out. Anything closer hurts my wrists. Reminds me of the competition last year where praetorian said we had to do it with an inch between the thumbs. Wrecked havoc on my wrists.
