  • Cardio While Bulking

Interested in the level of cardio while bulking and why. I tend to do less cardio, 1 or 2 times a week, while bulking so as to not burn muscle.

I voted 3-5 times a week. But I think there is a big difference between those. I also think what's important and maybe even more than the amount of times, is the type of cardio. As in intensity versus length.

low intensity 3 times a week is what works for me. but it also depends on how cleanly you're eating while bulking, etc. i hate getting a gut when i'm bulking...

yeah, if only the heart got some workout while you were squatting/benching/dipping/deadlifting...

Same concept as getting ready for a show. Like a treadmill, high incline low speed. Keep the blood highly oxygenated. A strong cardiovascular system also supports protien synithisis. Just as the proper nutrition consumed is important, so is a good blood supply to transfer those nutrients.

That's what I do. Either walk on a treadmill or get on the elliptical. A step-mill would be nice....

                    Same, also for stress control.

                      While bulking I avoid cardio.

I've done a bunch of reading on this topic and as well as some trial and error, and 20 mins of non-running (I use the elipitical) HIT 2X per week seems to serve the purposes that Shibby raised.
