  • deadlift question

I've been doing deadlifts on leg day (rethinking this, might move it to back day)

anyway, i start the movement with the bar almost touching my shins, my head tilted slightly upward. as i drive up, i'm pulling straight up with my back straight, and it almost feels like my head is pulling my shoulders and back up. i get some soreness in my neck and around the top of my spine, is this normal?

i realize form questions are really tough to answer online like this, just thought i'd noodle it out as i sit here waiting for something to blow up.

    thanks..

ya keep it on you leg day and do it first. the bar should be right on you shin and if you are doing it right you should cut you shins. how tall are you this has a great deal to do with where it hearts but you shouldn't have pain that high unless its your traps. push your chest out and up it helps to curl your toes so you push off you heels. make sure your not hanging over the bar to much. Some times its hard to be helpfull with out speaking with some one but ill do my best to help you. oh and when done right the bar should be the only thing keeping you from falling back. good luck and let us know.

I split my leg day into hams and calves one day, and then quads on another day. That way I can get in some stiff legged deads on hammy day, and then bent legged deads on back day.

That's cool that you say that because I've been to a few other forums where powerlifters think bodybuilders are worthless idiots and bodybuilders think powerlifters are worthless idiots and strongmen think that both powerlifters and bodybuilders are brainless idiots. Watching Ronnie Coleman pull 800lbs for two reps proves that the two aren't that dis-similar.

Ronnie put the balls back in bb. i started bb and then got in to the strongman game i still use some of my old bb tricks to hit those places i miss with my program. i am a trainer and i use every thing to help my team.

for some reason everyone thinks everyone else not doing exactly as they do is an idiot...

thanks for the tips, i'll keep doing it... not major hurt, so i'll keep after it and see if the muscles adjust..
