I used to think that if I wasnt sore the next day the workout didnt work just like you,but if your not sore than that just means that your muscles are used to working out and if you are sore that just means that the muscles you worked are not used to working out

I mostly find that when the soreness seems to not be as strong the following day or two after a workout, then iv'e pretty much conquered that weight and am ready to add some more pounds. So if that is not the way to be looking at it, i'd sure like to know so I can change that factor before it becomes too much of a habbit. Also i find my chest is sore after every workout, no matter what the weight.

Well, it's more than just whether you're used to exercise or not. The portion of a lift where your muscle is forcefully trying to contract while it's being lengthened (eccentric contraction) causes microscopic tears in your muscle fibers. That's why you're sore.Originally posted by bm1984ya but sometimes i get sore for consecutive weeks, for example my chest will be sore like 4 times a month , how long does it take to get used to

Huh?Could you give some examples of that?Originally posted by babybluesWell, it's more than just whether you're used to exercise or not. Me personally... I think if your sore the next day, you had a kick ass workout but if you don't, it doesn't necessarly mean you accomplished shit. I stay sore for about 2 good days. The worse soreness is probably back, biceps, triceps, and legs cuz you use them every day.Originally posted by bm1984when i work out a body part, and im not sore the next day i feel like i didnt accomplish anything in the workout. does soreness mean anything good or bad?

I believe its the stretching action that your muscles endure while either working out or doing any stretching routine. I personally always get sore when doing chest because I like to lower the weight all the way down and feel that stretch. But since I started stretching everyday I have noticed I'm not ner as sore as I used to be when doing any workout.
