  • partial quadricep muscle tear?

ok, so i'd been sitting on my ass for an hour when i made a sudden "pete rose" slide to fuck with a few people (long story). the minute i pushed off i knew something was fucked up in my left leg. it hurt like mad and i iced it, took ibuprofin, etc. range of motion limited by pain, but it felt better the next day. (i'm not sure if i hurt the sartorius, or rectus femoris) so i'm in the shower this morning (two days later) and start drying off, my thigh is feeling tender more than usual so i look down, and lo and behold my entire inner thigh is covered in a huge nasty looking bruise. i know all about joint injuries but this is new to me, it's tender to walk, range of motion limited, etc. it feels like its getting better over the last few days, but i'm debating whether or not to go to the dr. any ideas?

    go go go

no one on here is a doctor, nor are you

reality is best bet, it's a deep deep brusie, they happen, yet, if it's worse you better off knowing now, cause catching it early is the key to super long good health

      dr.'s results

so... a partial tear of the vastus medialis is the official diagnosis. no further care besides RICE required. the dr. said it may heal funny, there may be an indentation initially and then fatty tissue will fill the void until the muscle fully heals. he told me to expect pain and limited range of motion for 3 weeks, and to cycle 30 minutes three times a week to improve circulation. in his words "don't do it if it hurts, if it doesn't hurt, don't worry." i'll try to upload pictures of the bruising eventually, but its extended now to my knee area as the internal bleeding pools. the dr. took one look at my leg and the bruising and stated "hmm... pretty." everytime one of my co-workers sees it though they go "ewwwww... gross."
