Well, like so many other uneducated people, before about a month ago, the only squats I did were little half squats. I'd go into the gym and load on 300lbs on the bar. I'd take it down a few inches, and think I was the shit. Lucky for me, not too long ago, a guy at my gym who was into powerlifting asked if I wanted a tip. I said sure and he showed me how far down to go in order for it to be a real squat. I started off just doing a lot of reps with just a few pounds on to get the feel of them. DAMN, I have been doing them the right way for a little over a month now, and I can still only do about 170 keeping good form, and going down just past where my quads are parallel to the ground. (Not ass to heals, but close) How long do you guys think it will take me to get in the 250-300 range? I am 6'0", 185 lbs, around 13%BF. I can deadlift almost 270, and have been doing that slightly longer than the squats. Is it normal to be able to DL that much more than I can squat??

Of course it's normal if you've been deadlifting for awhile and you just started squatting (correctly). Deep squatting is the most productive thing you can do in the gym, stick with it.
