I have started my cardio every morning on an empty stomach for 30 minutes on a stationary bike and every once in a while mix it up with the treadmill. My question is, I am 26 and apparently my target heart rate is around 130-135 from what I have read. I have a nike heart rate monitor and it says that my heart rate averages around 143. Is this bad?

To add to what Foghat said, your target heart rate depends on the goal you have set. If that goal recommends a THR 130-135 then do what foghat said. If it's fat burning then remember you need oxygen in your blood to oxidize fat cells. That's where that range comes from. But you will have to also include your breathing pattern at that rate. You want to try and take longer full breaths instead of shorter shallower breaths.
