When doing the leg press, I have the seat leaning all the way back. The question I have is regarding how far back should my knees come back. I have been bringing them back nearly to my chest. Is this going too far back or should I just bring my knees back until they are at a 90 degree angle.

    Thanks!

I bring my knees all the way back to my chest. I feel it hits more muscle fibers by going that deep. I think it's kind of like squats, you should go back that far to avoid using your knee tendons as brakes rather than your bodies natural limit.

Just make sure you are not rolling your lower back up off the seat when you do it this way.. If you cant keep your lower back planted, try it another way or adjust until you can keep it there.. It is a very easy way to damage your spine

Yep yep - when your tailbone dips you're setting yourself up for injury - like pd said - do NOT let your lower back up off of the pad...

Thanks for all the replies. One question. I know the seat position works different muscles. For an overall workout is it better to have the seat all the way back or more up. I have used it all the way back, and have never tried moving the seat up.

I will also make sure I am keeping that lower back down.

              Thanks.
