  • Who believes in body types?

    Mesomorph, endomorph, and ectomorph?

  • #2
Actually its initially poorly worded. To what degree do you all subscribe to the body type system? I realize then are not final, but how limiting is your natural genetic body type? IYO

      Extremely limiting.

Body type is genetically predetermined. We can help things along with hormonal supplementation, but this does not change the DNA structure of our cells.

genetics are really what makes or brakes you. i have seen guys kill themselves in the gym, eat perfectly, use huge amounts of AAS and you really couldnt even tell they workout. i dont really subscribe to body type. there is nobody that is a 100% of a body type and to me that makes the guideline worthless.

          This isn't a comforting thought.

well you are a smart guy, i am sure you know some people just have shit for genetics. i am sure you have seen the guy in the gym that has been there for years killing himself in the gym and just looks like nothing. these are the people that hurt themselves. they use huge amounts of steroids in an effort to look like the other big guys and they kill their liver and kidneys in the process.

I guess my problem is that I feel like I'm not getting anywhere and I don't know why. I feel like I can't get my b/f any lower and I really don't know why. I've done everything we've talked about, I've even consulted other sources. I just hope I'm not one of those guys.

well how long have you been seriously eating and lifting? i would also like you to type out exactly what you ate yesterday and the times you ate at. i would also like to see what your workout looked like yesterday. how long are you in the gym for on average? you should be in and out in 45 minutes or less. heavy controlled intensity in the gym and then supply your body the nutrients it needs to grow.

I agree with you there bro. My genetics arent that great, especially in my leg area. My quads and hams do grow but I got to train them hard and heavy, and when I stop they go back to normal. The only problem with my genetics are my calves. No matter how hard I train them or how much I eat (alot), they do not seem to grow for shit. I guess the calves gene runs in the family cause my family is like that. Bothers me but what can I do about it.

try doing calves without sneakers on. Hurts at first, but i saw great results once i got used to it.

I can tell you everything I've eaten all week, since the beginning of January.

Don't you want more than a day? Plus Saturday's is a bad day. Its my day off from the gym, the day I eat the least...and the day I have the least time to eat right.

                      But for arguments sake.

                      Saturday:

                      Morning Shake: (8:08 am)
8 oz milk, 2 scoops whey, 1 spoon of Natural PB

I was driving to Jersey so I ate a Met-RX Big 100 bar. Specifically Chocolate w/caramel at about 11:00. Didn't have the log out to put it in.

                      1:00 pm
2 slices of plain pizza and about 6 oz of chicken.

                      5:00 pm
                      Outback Filet w/veggies

                      10:00 pm
3 hard boiled eggs. 2 whole eggs and 1 egg white.

That all being said, that is a really poor example of how I normally eat, but I had to go and do some computer work for my Dad at one of his businesses. So I'll give you Friday as well:

                      8:15 am:
6 hard boiled egg whites, 1 bowl oatmeal, banana, 8 oz OJ

                      Meals 2 & 3 (11:30 am & 2:00 pm):
6 oz chicken, 1/2 cup brown rice, 1/3 of an avocado

                      5:30 pm:
3/4 cup of rice and mixed veggies, 6 oz rice

                      Lift at 6:30 pm
Shoulders which takes roughly 35 minutes
                      ABS
                      50 min cardio

                      8:00 pm:
PWO. 8 oz grapefruit juice, 2 scoops whey

                      10:15pm:
Shake w/ 8 oz milk and 1 scoop whey and 1 spoon of Natural PB

what was that 5:30pm meal again? rice an rice? :P one thing that stands out in the Friday meal plan is that your last whole food meal is at 5:30. for the rest of the day you just had shakes and shit. i am not even going to talk about Saturdays meal because that is just a mess.

and no, i don't want all of January. i asked what you had yesterday and just look what it was. point is, if you want results you have to dedicate yourself. you have to be especially strict if you think your genetics are lacking. no matter what you have to do, you have to make time.

The two shakes in a row are for two reasons. First, I am at work and I wasn't feeling too comfortable taking 10 minutes to eat chicken, rice, etc. Two, it was suggested to me that in an attempt to lose bf, eating a real meal so late may be a bad idea. Thus, on Tue, Thur, and Friday that is what I eat at 10 I am working out so late, I have a PWO. On Sun, Mon, Wed my PWO is earlier in the day and I eat eggs at 10. Saturdays are so hectic they just look bad, but I thought it would be okay to eat some what poorly on one day a week. Unless you think it is EXTREMELY bad. Its just like I said though. Time flies and I don't have a lot of it.

well you are a little confused on a few fronts.

first, having a shake instead of a real meal will not help you lose bf. cals consumed VS cals burned determines weight loss, not a liquid meal VS a solid.

second, "cheat days" are done for 2 reasons. first is to keep some level of sanity and actually enjoy the taste of food. the second and most important reason is to speed up the metabolism. you introduce a large amount of calories to your system and you metabolism speeds up. thus when you go back to your diet your metabolism is rasied and you burn more fat. BUT, you really didnt get that out of your cheat day. you ate the same or less amount of cals and they were low quality cals at that.

get rid of the shakes. PWO shake is fine. real food is king.

p.s. protein bars are garbage, don't even consider them as a good source of anything.

I konw protein bars suck, but I had nothing else. Second, the shake thing, like I said is because of time constraints. Its hard to feel like I'm ripping them off. I know my cheat day sucks...I'm working on it, as the semester gets into a better motion and I can stop driving ever where in the North East It'll be better. I just figured the shake would work at night because its low in calories. Maybe I'll go back to taking my 10 minutes.
