  • Short guys and squats.

Do you think short guys have an advantage with squats?

I'm a short guy (5'7") and I definitely feel that I have an advantage on squats. This might have more to do with the fact that I have a very short inseam even for my height (26.5"), than the fact that I'm just plain short. :D

my training partner is 5'5" i am about 6' he can do alot more weight than i can on squats i am stronger on everything else though. its about levers try grabbing a pool cue and moving a bowling ball tith the tip while holding it at the other end, then choke up on it and grab it in the middle and try. you have more leverage so you can move the ball easier. long legs long levers short legs short levers.

        shorter bones=higher relative strength
shorter distance from bar to the muscles worked=more relative strength

BUT if you go for actual strength by measuring bone length tendon length, lever distances, etc. you will find that most short people are not that much "stronger". they are just able to move heavier weights shorter distances, while taller and lankier people mover lighter weights greater distances.
