  • Powerlifting comp

I have been encouraged by a few people to compete in some power lifting comps. I looked into it a little mostly to see what the rules were and what the winning lift totals were and it would seem that I could beat the winners of my weight class and if I can get down a weight class and keep my strength all the better. Here is my question what is it like is it political like bodybuilding comps with shady characters or is it a whole different scene? Anybody know? I think I would do it if it's just clean competition but I don't care for political maneuvering.

I've been to a couple of meets but not competed. They seemed generally low key and everybody seemed supportive of each other. They don't seem to care for the finer points of physical training that much is evident, otherwise just lots of fat bellies and linament smell in the air.

Thanks, I guess that's what I will need to do is go check it out. As long as I don't have to get a fat belly I should be fine,

Although it might help with the bench press, you wouldn't have to lower it as far!
