  • Help me help my friend..training/diet

    His stats:
    22-23
    6'
    205 lbs.
    23-26% bf

He loves to eat, and only likes to eat terrible food. He wants to lose weight and just tone up his muscles, he broke both arms a couple of years ago, his arms are atrophy city.

He doesn't like free weights, and I met him at the gym today, I wanted to see his fitness level. I would rather him use the cable machines, he seems a lot more confident and comfortable with the cable machine, and I personally can't meet him all the time and critique his form.

His conditioning is not good, and he doesn't like to run, he complains of shin splints (this guy complains a lot now that I write it all down). I had him walk ten minutes today, and then we did 3 sets of box jumps and jumping jacks. He had to rest in the bathroom.

i am lost here, where should I start? (sounds like I am a trainer, so to clarify, I am just a friend helping him out)

I thought he would focus mainly on conditioning for a couple of months, doing some cable machine work at a fast pace also.

Diet? He loves the starvation peanut butter sandwich a day diet, and lost 30 lbs on doing that a few years ago. He won't listen to me and actually cook for himself, yet he knows how to cook.

He likes to eat turkey sandwiches for some reason.

How many cals should he get? Carb/fat/pro. breakdown?

    Thanks for the help.

Sounds like he needs to help himself or willing to be helped before anyone can give him valid advice. He needs a lifestyle change, not a personal trainer.

damn man, it sounds like he needs some work...

first and foremost, get his diet down, BEFORE ANYTHIHG, diet is key

5-6 small meals a day, and a anywhere from .5g-1g of water a day, just from that he should see results

High protein, EFA, carbs, EVOO, etc... (the whole works)

also ask him to start walking, 15-30min a day, than once his body starts getting comfortable, he can hit the gym.

When you have it out in quotes it looks worse. lol

Yeah, I am not going to put a lot of time into helping him, I always think he will actually stick to his diet. He is "always eating that last big indulgence meal before the diet starts guy", and I know all of this, I guess it makes me angry that I am more concerned with the guy getting healthy then he is about himself.

So, no one waste time to help me out, they guy wouldn't use it anyway. :dunno: peaple these days :dunno:
