  • Cardio and pre-workout

Hey guys, I am going to do a show in another 12 weeks. BOUNCER I got a spin bike on a loaner from the promoter that asked me to do his show, WHAT A DOLL. The plan is to get my morning session in @ home BUT I don't want to get up too early to have to eat something? For the last prep my coach had me eat eggwhites/broc about 2 hours before and then cardio because I couldn't get it in early enough to do it on an empty stomach.

Should I go the same route, that worked for me or should I do it on an empty stomach and then eat what I was scheduled to eat throughout the day.

I am afraid 45 minutes of cardio on an empty stomach might make me feel weak..

Thoughts - advice? :) - I am not using my coach for this event. Its a amateur show and I just want to keep my feet wet. Will find another coach locally to keep up with my pro status next spring and go all out, lol. I wanted to try this on my own with what I learned from my previous show.

i would ask myself how pleased i was with how i looked on stage. if you were very pleased i wouldn't change much of anything.

i personally would do the cardio on an empty stomach as soon as i woke up.

most people have been telling me to go with the empty stomach, so its on..

wish me luck.. grrrrrrr I know 2-3 weeks in I will be kicking myself in the ass

Just do it on an empty stomach within 15-20 minutes of waking up - it shouldn't hurt you at all but in the case you feel weak or think you're losing muscle you can always change it up...

What about taking a scoop of protein powder before morning cardio? Would that slow down the muscle breakdown, while still allowing fat loss?

Yes... I've always been a proponent of that and even keep it in the first half of my contest diet schedule - she is likely on a much more restrictive caloric intake though as I was taking in around 4k calories in the first 10 weeks of a 20 week contest diet but I'm sure she is around the 1500 or less mark :hang:

At such a low caloric intake, metabolism management is much more important. Rampant endocrininc variances can wreak havok on your ability to train.

I would vote against cardio on an empty stomach. What your coach had you doing before such as eggs, fibrous carbs, and fat for breakfast was spot on.

Thanks everyone. I am go with some bcaas and a shot of espresso with water before and during. I will have a protein shake afterwards and wait till around 8:30am to eat food. My calorie intake believe it or not will be around 1900... My metabolism has stalled and the 1900 mark keeps me on the burning point. I was about this intake before my show... :D

Its on this weekend and I will have more work to do as I am sitting heavier than the last time :moon:
