Great back workout tonight. Even in the car on the way to the gym I was focused. Started like I always do. Warmed up with two light sets of lat pulldowns. Then 1 set of 12 pullups with my bodyweight. Then over the next 3 sets I added weight until I had 35 extra lbs on the belt, which I got for 9 reps on my last set of pullups.
Then it was deadlift time. I have actually taken 2 weeks off from deads, so my lower back felt fresh, even if the movement felt a little stale. I decided to see if I could finally get 4 plates on each side. Worked up gradually, hitting 1 rep, adding 20 lbs, hitting another, adding 20. When I got to 385, it was a little tougher than I'd hoped. I had done it before, and it definately wasn't any easier this time. I basically told myself to stop being such a pussy. I put the 4th patty on each side, went to get a drink of water and came back. Found the best song on my IPOD, and tried to get myself jacked. (which is a challenge sometimes) Right before the lift I looked in the mirror, and noticed a group of 3 18-19 year old guys and 1 girl about the same age watching me. Normally this would piss me off because they weren't minding their own business, but this time it didn't bother me. In fact, I let out a little chuckle under my breath, took a firm stance, and pushed like hell through my legs. It went up like nothing. Set it down, and pulled it up for another rep! (This one was a challenge, but I got it!)
Finished off the workout with 4 good sets of DB rows, my last set with 100s which I got for 8 reps on each side. I tried to do a few sets of bent over lateral raises, but there was no point, I was so burned out I couldn't rep 20s.
I know a lot of you probably warm up with 405 for deads, but at 190, I am happy I finally worked up to it. I'm only 22 so hopefully I have plenty more Personal bests ahead of me.
