  • Hammer curls

About 4 months back I realized that i'd hit a plateau on my quest to bring my arms up in size. After looking at a buddy of mine who has great arms, it dawned on me; that bump between the bicep and tricep...mine isn't nearly as pronounced as his. So I decided to focus on hammer curls more; I moved them up in my workout so that they're the second exercise I do now on bicep day rather than the last. Sure as shit, I've made some strides where my arms are concerned.

So those of you who haven't worked hammer curls hard, or haven't made them a priority for awhile...give it a try. You just might stimulate some nice new arm growth.

yea, i do them as part of my bicep training. they allow you to go pretty heavy also and kind of do some cheat sets on the bicep.

It's sort of funny how after working out for so many years, sometimes the answer to making an improvement is so simple...but we can't see it for awhile.

I remember an article in a magazine that Dorian Yates wrote about shocking muscles into growth by taking your traditional 'finishing' exercises and doing them hard and heavy at the beginning of the workout instead. It's a good plateau-buster.

Do you do them in teh traditional way...dumbell out in front of you same way you'd be positioned for normal curl?

I do them bringing the weight up along my body in a tight parallel, basically keeping the dumbell snug to my abdomen and up into my pecs. I find I feel the brachialis contracting better that way.
