  • Tabata Intervals

    Nekrawulf/anyone else,

I am incorporating more tabata intervals into my workouts. A couple of questions:

    1. Should I stick to one 4 minute set only, or can I do a circuit with say 3 or 4 exercises of 4 minutes each?

    2. Should these be the only cardio for the day or should I do them after doing some low-intensity cardio? How about combining these wtih lifting? I figure tabata intervals will kick my rear by themselves, so I should be careful about combining them with other strenuous exercise.

Comments/advice welcome. I am eager to take my cardio to the next level of sophistication and effectiveness.

Just did one 4 minute tabata round with burpees - that just about did me in! I was running on empty on the 7th and 8th interval - just managed to somehow finish. And I thought my aerobic conditioning was pretty good!

I think I might have to pick some easier exercises if I try tabata circuit - lol....

tabata burpees is a tough one. i have done it mostly with circuts myself. you coud incorporate all types of diferent exercises. i would say if you do a circut of it make that your cardio for the day. try mixing some weights in the circuit, ive done it with shoulder presses with only 95lbs and you can barely lift your arms when done. great workouts tho.

sorry, I was away from the board for a while.

try this one on for size scrum

jump rope, situps, pushups, then bodyweight squats

4 minute taba intervals on each exercise, no rest between exercises.

general you dont want to go over 4 exercises as you have pushed so far into your lactic threshold that your muscles are worthless.

fucking tabata burpees... you crazy bastard

Also, tabatas is a cardio/lactic threshold protocol..... so it does nto ahve the same effect if you were to tty shoulder presses with it... stick to bodyweight movements
