  • was talking to a trainer

I spoke with a well known trainer that works with a few pros and his program he doesnt do arm work at all and he has huge arms and all the guys he trains swear by it he was saying that if you do your chest and back in the proper way your arms should grow fine as in just different grips and such Ill try and get his workout and post it. Anyone think its possible,I mean sometimes when Ive done back and bis together after Im done back I can only get a set or 2 for arms cause they are spent but not because I used my bis more then I should during back.

I think thats more genetics. I only work 1 exercise for bicepts 4 sets and dont even realy go all out. Not any more but my arms used to be 20"s. Thats my 1 gift big bis everything else I have to work on especialy tris and calfs

I would have to agree a lot of it has to do with genetics...I stopped doing back & bi's together for the same reason as above- I would get done with back, and my bi's would already be spent, so they wouldn't get much of a workout. I started doing back & hamstrings together, and bi's & tri's on another day. I got great results training the arms that way. In fact, almost too good. I wish they were smaller, LOL. Essentially- the bi's are getting 2 workouts per week by doing back & bi's on a different day.

Funny how every trainer is different. My belief is if you are not working the body part it doesn't need to get involved for example if I'm doing my back I try to keep my bis out of it as much as possible I know you gonna ask how is that possible? Well believe me it is :) same with the chest if you are working your chest your tris don't need to be worked as hard. So go ahead blast me with all the questions I'm going to hit the slopes I'll answer them when. I get back.
                Happy new year everybody :D

Well it's simple, all you have to do is just hold the weight and pull your elbows back. :)
Here is what most people do...they grab the weight and start pulling it as hard as they can so naturaly they work the shit out of the biceps and hardly any back at all, so again don't pull the weight with your biceps hold the weight and move your elbows back. Imagine your hands as hooks just move the weight and I promise you'll feel shit that you never felt before.

Same goes for the chest...you don't have to use to much shoulder or tricep to make the chest work. Think of origin to insertion, what that means? Your pecs originate from your sternum and gets inserted under your arm pit so if you are benc pressing at some point which us when you go down to far you are taking all the work from your chest and putting it in to your triceps and shoulders so what you have to practice is to stop when your pecs get to their maximum strech point wich is right around the sticking point and also you have to make sure that you chin is not digging in to your chest and shoulders are not bunched up around your ears. :D

when i get ready for a show i do very little arm workouts --- they start to overpower everything

                        genetics play a large roll
