  • Training calves...

My calves have been lagging for the past year. Starting two months ago, I changed up how I do calf raises. Rather than pushing through the balls of my feet, I pull my heel up with my calf muscle. IT is a completely different feel. If I measure right this morning, I added close to an inch in 2 months.

You don't extend as high up, but I have been hurting it more doing it this way than previously. Anyone else try this before?

yea ive tried all different ways i get the best when i go very very heavy and do drop sets until i cat do 1 more, congrats on your growth bro thats good shit keep it up and us posted. I also get the best results when I use the legpress with a ton of plates just lock the press so i doesnt come down all the way,its great, theres also a new free motion calf machine that is really nice it feels very natural.

I have been doing that because it helps to stretch my achilles which is good for my injury. I don't think I have seen that rapid of growth but I have seen increases in size.

I know they are a pain to get them to come out,I also wear my old shoes I wore in highschool for basketball that makes you walk useing you calves alot and that helps too, sometimes I wear them on a slow incline walk on the tread mill,it taxes them

The new way is definitely working for me. I also added on five sets of calves after chest for good measure. I wish the growth would keep up, but I know it own't last.

Did you have to drop in weight with the new method, or is it only the ROM that was reduced? Thanks for pointing this out - I need to try this out tomorrow.

I had to reduce the weight. I started doing this with all my exercises this week. My weights dropped 10-15%. I don't remember the last time my back was this sore.
