  • Training Past Failure

Last week when I did my chest/tri workout I had my training partner help on like the last couple reps; I was past the point of failure and he just bumped the bar every-time time I hit a sticking point. The workout felt great;never been so pumped. I was sore as hell the next couple day. Do you think it is good to get these last couple reps or is it a case of risking injury/too much strain on th muscles. I just had that quote from pumping iron in my head and ran with it that day.

I wouldn't do it all the time but it's good to past failure every once and a while, in fact I do that pretty often with lighter weights my idea is as long as the weight moves keep going, even if you can move it for an inch, when the weight stops moving you are done with that set. :D

Forced reps are great. Try incorporating some rest and pauses.
