Haven't been this sore in a long time. I feel the way one feels when you do something completely different like going skiing something. Unknown muscles hurt in strange places

I know the body gets in a rut when we do the same exercises, or even very similar exercises all the time. For example, I don't think it is very different if you do cable rows vs. pulldowns. I used to rotate exercises all the time but never felt like this.

I added pullups and all these medicine ball based twisting exercises for the core and I really feel it today. My abs and obliques are like a rock and my lats are more sore than I have ever been with rows. I can now really understand why fighters focus on the core so much - getting punched in the body over 10 rounds must really wear you down unless you have a really strong core.

I'm loving my new schedule. I might have to take the day off though - am too sore today. :)

Thanks, man! And no, I have always been natural. The only supplements I take are a multivitamin every day and whey protein shakes - I am vegetarian and getting enough protein is always a challenge.

Here is a picture of me from about 6 months ago. I am leaner and harder now with more ab definition - still long way to go in the strength department though.. :(

                2/8/10: Pull Workout

Pull Ups: Go to failure, 60 sec break with 25 crunches, repeat until total of 100 pull ups.
                Upright Rows: 60 x 8 x 3
                BB Shrugs: 135 x 8 x 3
                BB Curls: 60 x 7, 60 x 6, 55 x 8

The pullups are a marine workout that I read about. It took me almost half an hour to get through them. After the first few rounds, I could only get 5 reps each time, so it took a while to add up to 100. Need a lot more work here... :(

                Total Workout Time: 50 minutes

AOW, I typically get anywhere from 5-6 hours of sleep. I know... this is blasphemy from the standpoint of working out, but between work, kids, etc., that's all I've got. There aren't enough hours in the day for more... I have trained my body to function with this level of rest to where it doesn't really bother me too much. I do get 8 hours on the weekend.

As far as work, I am a scientist, so my work is fairly sedentary.
