  • Hit the gym later=better workout?

So I was supposed to have a job interview right after I gotta outta work today but the guy had a meeting so I ended up going to the gym around 7pm instead of 5pm. Well I had 10 times better of a workout; bigger pumps, more endurance, and bigger weights; just great overall. 7-8 pm was the time i used to always train at before I got a job; do you think my body is so used to that time it is just ready to train at that time? It was amazing how much better I felt in the gym.

I feel like it is just like many things we come across. Our bodies react a little differently than others. I know I can't lift within a couple hours of waking up in the morning. My mind is there but my body isn't ready. I feel good workin out aroun 7, can't say I've noticed it being any better than 5 though. Also, if I eat my pre workout meal, take a nap for 45 to an hour, then have my preworkout drink and go I feel amazing

working out at 7pm vs 5pm really should make no difference in terms of the science etc..

i would understand if you had a better workout at 7pm over 7am but not a 2 hour difference.

I think it might be your internal clock. I beleive we all have a time of the day we feel best. Some people are night owls, other early birds, and then others in between. 7pm may be when your body feels best. If it works, go with it

I used to work out right before noon. I had good lifts, and i was happy.

When the spring semester started, I switched to my lifts around 4pm. I feel better. I am lifting heavier and feeling good. Good pumps and everything.

I've been working out first thing in the morning and it's been great. I usually get to the gym around 5:30 or so in the morning and I am done by 6:30, which allows me to get back home, shower, get the kids out of bed and ready for school and get ready to go to work by 7:30.

I dont' know if it is the release of endorphins or what but I find that the morning workout makes me fresher and more charged during the work day. Moreover, I have time to get home on time and spend time with the kids before bedtime instead of being in the gym when they are awake.

I think one just needs to find a time slot that feels right and allows one to get a good workout and doesn't conflict with their life schedule. That way, there's a lesser chance that you will get a half-assed workout or be forced to skip a workout due to other conflicts. I think that the other factors are pretty minor effects.

Oh yeah if I go to the gym in the morning i am unbelievably week, I am thinking it's because I ate right before I went to the gym and tok like a 45 min break before, I think for a couple weeks I am gonna go home from work eat then take a 45 min nap then go to the gym for around 6:30-7:00 and see how I feel.
