  • whats with these angles smith machines?

I was inclining on one today and where I start the movement the bar is at nipple level but at the top of the movement near lockout its over my upper chest/neck?

Felt ok but I just wondered what was behind this logic because all other smiths I've tried ran straight up and down:weights:

I remember reading a powerlifting article where the recommend when you flat bench you come down to your nipple but push up and slightly back toward your head to obtain optimal power. Perhaps that is why. Just a theory

I've only ever seen the angled ones. I hate Smith Machines. They screw up my form.

I like the hammer strength machines, the incline bench gives me a pump like no other.
