A few people at my gym do this, and as I was doing squats today I was thinking of taking my shoes off for 5 sets
the biggest benefit to lifting barefoot or with minimalist shoes (I wear the Vibrams now) is the fact that you dont get any side to side movement. When you put heavy weights on padded running shos they compress and it can allow your ankles to roll. In a way its similar to guys lifting in work boots.

Yea man, I notice that. That ankle roll can mess you up.

So I tried this the other day, I now have massive bruising, a possible stress fracture, lacerations and dog shit all over foot. Thanks for this great idea!

Well, you were not supposed to go run on the street the first time you did it... :retard:

Yeah, I've been thinking of picking up a pair. I guess you get them at REI, so I might stop by and take a look. I think I'll run indoors (much as I hate the treadmill) for a while barefoot to get used to forefoot strikes before I drop $85 on a pair of VFFs.
