  • Frequency of changing routines?

How frequently should I change my weight lifting routine? Should I constantly change it up to keep my muscles guessing or should I keep at it until I hit a plateau?

Change it up every few weeks. I put a slight variation in my workouts to target each muscle differently.

lol no shit! Ask them their stats, lol.
everyone is different and everyone does thing different. I keep my workout almost the same always I just change a few exersizes now and then.
But as Bouncer posted that is the way that is recomended most by the pros

why would you change it up if you are getting amazing results in your training? the only point to changing something up is when gains and results are starting to stall.

Like i said I change it up differently. Instead of doing incline db press for my 1st exercise, i might do it as my 2nd exercise or 3rd. that's what i mean by changing.

I dont get into that stuff. I keep everything simple as i am not a smart person but I can lift heavy things, lol.
I keep the same core exersizes all the time and switch a few others when ever I feel like it. I dont have a science to it i just go in the gym and say man I need a change a few things today.

I like to stick with a routine till the gains slowdown; for an example lets say you are doing skull crushers first week you max at 110lbs X 10, next week you get 115lbs X10 next week you get 120 X 8, week after that you get 120 X 8. I would usually move away from skull crushers for a couple weeks then start back at 115 X 10; 120 X 10; 120 X 10; 125 X ??? Usually that breaks me through the plateau and I can squeeze another 10 lb gain out of the exercise.

In addition, every 8-10 weeks no matter what I will throw in a week of high reps just to completely change my mentality; I will go back to my 8-10 rep max with a 15-20 rep thinking and just that alone lets me get more weight moving.

I seldom change routines, though i change the order of exercises, when ever it feels right. It takes 6 weeks to know if a routine is working for you or not.

Also from my EXP. Strength gains dont always mean muscle gains. Ive been alot stronger, when i was alot smaller.
