So I want to get fitter and lose bodyfat.

I'm aware of the optimum fat burning range being above 120 but not over 135 bpm but I'm not sure if that's only if your on keto diet, which I am not. So as I say I also want to gett more cardio fit. Today I did 30mins level 15 on lifecycle crosstrainer then 15 mins on stationary bike and my heart rate averaged about 158 on the xtrainer and 170 on the bike peaking at 175bpm.

It felt good, like id really had a workout instead of that usual slow cardio where you feel like a hospital patient doing rehab.

Id like to do the same tommorrow but my question is is that any better or worse than HIT or low intensity for my purposes?

In my experience (with my body) interval training works better for burning fat AND getting fit. Slow and steady burns fat, but will not put you into the shape of an athlete.

With my interval training, after a warm up, I run at 10mph for 2 minutes, then walk at 4.5 until my heart rate gets under 130bpm. Then I repeat. I maintain muscle on this, while getting lean, and being fit.

I am 28, 5-9, 205 and can pop off a mile in under 7 minutes

your heart rate got to 175? was that the machine tell you this or do you have a seprate heart rate monitor?

I also agree with always. I do sorta the same thing but when I walk I will make the incline go up I also usally switch speeds or incline every 5 mins.

well I think this relates also to when you do your cardio? If your goal is to burn fat why not before you eat when you wake up. ???

If you want to get fit, you need both. I would recommend 2 days of LISS cardio and 1 day of HIIT per week.

Thanks for the help guys, so going at 75-80% for 45 mins is not as good as interval then?

not if it is straight 45 mins. Just like when lifting gotta change it up keep the body guessing.

not saying that 75-80% for 45 mins isnt a great workout.

Tour de France cyclists get up to 220bpm bro, one thing I know about cardio and me is that the more I do it the harder it is to get my heart rate up. Maybe I should get those polar watches or something then but I seem to remember I used to workout for an hour when I wasa younger running and stuff and it was always arounf 170 then

Ok so I wanna try hiit cardio tomorrow and really go at it. I have crosstrainer, bike, recline bike, treadmill and stairmaster.

Xtrainer and bike are my favourite, can someone tell me how its done? I don't want some ten minute shit either I wanna do like 40 mins. No way in hell is 10 mins gonna burn more fat and get me fitter than 45 mins at 80%
