I've thought about this for some time and now i want to go ahead and get certified as a pt. I asked a pt at my gym and they say get certified by NASM because they are accepted everywhere and rated the best. I called NASM and everything sounds cool. They talked about working at a gym or doing self contracted pt. I kinda wanna do my own thing but he said you can either go independent or get hired by a gym. I know some of you have experience in this so all suggestions are good. The reason i also wanna do this is for a second income which would help out alot and for the simple fact that i enjoy working out and talking about fitness.

Yup I have NASM and he is right everyone execpts it. I never worked at a gym I got turned off by the fact they pay you $21 dollars a hour to train someone and charge like $75
then when you are not training someone you get like 8 bucks per hour. you also have to get your own customers. Complete bullshit if you ask me $75 dollars per hour come on really.

believe or not, a small percentage of personal trainers make bank. I know 2 guys personally that make bank. They both train people to get people in shape, and they also help people prep for contests.Originally posted by jack tors View PostQ. Is there any money in that field? Who can live on $10 a hour?

I know a guy who makes about 90k a year doing it. Not bank, but does well. I make about an extra 12k on top of my normal job training some high school athletes and some guys in their 30's that are trying to lose weight.Originally posted by jack tors View PostQ. There is a great deal of money to be made as a personal trainer by a very select few. Otherwise, it's more of a supplemental income. You have to fit the role and be a good salesman as well as a successful trainer. A buddy of mine here last last year cleared six figures the other two I know barely paid their bills.

Yep house sitting and cleaning toilets pays for my Benz. :slap:Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postyea, beast has to house sit and fix toilets to supplement his personal training. :lmao:
On the real side though I fucking hate my job. I used to love it, while I was young but now I'm older I'm done with that shit.
I mean don't get me wrong money is great once you get established but until then you have to work in some chain gym for 15-20 bucks a session and once you get a few clients going you can move on to some independed gym and make minimum 50-60 bucks an hour.
I do anywhere from 40 to 45 sessions a week but there is always the slow times of the year that it makes your business hit the bottom. In fact the last holiday season was my slowest ever and I was hurting.
Also I'm sick of waking up 4 or 5am everyday(except weekends I only do four sessions Saturday morning then I'm done for the weekend.)
