  • Back Injury

Was doing 3RD set of squats today. 1ST set at full working weight. On my last rep, I was struggling. Probably should have put it down, but went for it anyway. Got a bit out of line with my weight forward, and my arse came up a bit - then a popping sensation in my spin around the 3RD bump down from the big vertebrae on my neck. It felt tight and hurt a bit, but not alot of pain.

I dropped weight right down to see if i could do hi rep squats - no good. Hurt too much. Just did leg presses and leg curls for the rest of work out.

Sort of felt like a squirting sensation when it popped.

Anyone done anything like this and what was the outcome?

Don't go back to the gym until you feel completely normal. Let it heal 100% or you may pay for it the rest of your life.

Yeah, back is real weird. You could be lucky and it could be just a muscle. If it is related to your vertebrae, it could be, in increasing order of severity, a bulging disc, a herniated disc and a ruptured disc. Only an doctor can say for sure. I'm with B, take till off from the gym until you feel normal. You might want to visit a doctor if the symptoms don't go away in a day or two, just to get a prescription strength pain reliever (if you need it) or a muscle relaxant and to have it diagnosed right.

Some time back I was having lower back issues. It ended up being a hip alignment problem due to right psoas muscles. A single chiro visit and two physical therapy sessions to diagnose the tight muscle and get some stretching exercises and I've been fine.

Caveat, find a chiro that does not want to see you every week but rather recommends physical therapy with it. Otherwise all the chiro is doing is taking care of the symptoms and not the underlying cause.

See, this is the problem I have with chiropractors. The whole concept is quackery and the only good they do is when the masquerade as physical therapists, which means you might as well go see a physical therapist with the right training and credentials.

The physical therapist and chiro I use work together. The way it was explained to me by the physical therapist, is that the chiro aligns everything and the PT helps keep it there. If PT is used alone, the alignment is slow and may not be complete, requiring an adjustment to complete the process. So the synergistic effect helps expedite the process

Always, the physical therapist and you doing your stretches and proper posture etc is what fixed your problem. The chiro did jack shit.

The PT and stretches are keeping me aligned. When I first when to the chiro, my lower back was stiff as my cock when watching teen porn. When I bent over and to the left, I felt tightening in my back. He adjusted, I felt better instantly. But it would have continued sliding out of alignment until I fixed the underlying cause.

Look at it like this. Say if someone has horrible bad breath all the time despite taking care of their teeth. So the person chews gum all the time.. The go to the dentist and find a cavity. Until that cavity is fixed, the gum is necessary to cover up the flaw. Chiro is the gum. A stopgap until the cause is fixed.

Saw Dr yesterday. She thinks only muscle strain! relief. Taken 2 days off. Might do light chest/tri tomorrow - no dips or skullcrushers.

"alligned" is a made up term by chiro quacks.

                    you have bought the BS.

proper posture will keep you "aligned" just fine.

Squirt and pop are not good signs, sounds llike and ruptured disk. Ice pack, ibuprofen gel, see a specialist

My posture was off but slightly because of my tight psoas muscle B. But it was impossible to tell with a naked eye, I believe it happened when I strained my right hip/groin while playing basketball. I started to favor my left leg thereby strengthening the muscle on that side. After I healed, I continued to do so subconsciously, pulling my hips to the side. So while I seemed to have correct posture, the muscle imbalance was pulling my hips gently to the side. Over months, it would fuck with my back. One chiro visit, 2 PT visits, and stretching to balance out the sides, and everything is fine.

By no means am I saying chiros are the end all. They are a bandaid until everything is fixed. If I had surgery, the doctor could let my body naturally heal the incision. But some stitches will help the process along.

X ray came baxck all clear, so its muscular. Still tight. Is it ok to ease into light back workouts?

I would take a break for a week or so. If you have pain of inflammation try taking some ALEVE for a couple days. If its not better in a week,,,see a doctor.

Go see a physical therapist. It will help. I also recommend seeing a chiro, but only in conjunction with the PT. They will help with any posture issues you may not realize you have
