  • I don't get personal trainers sometimes

I saw this guy at my gym doing something like a "boot camp" style routine with these people who were obvously pretty new in the gym and fairly overweight.

After their workout was over, one of the girls, clearly upon instruction from the trainer, was doing box jumps. She was about 5'2" maybe, at least 175lbs, i.e. a good 50-60lbs overweight. She has no business doing plyometrics.

Not sure what the hell the trainer was thinking.. What about standard cardio and maybe intervals after a while? This was an injury waiting to happen. :disagree:

Beast, have you seen this kind of stuff before?

And nothing like overworking people right from the start and making them never want to come back...

Completely off topic but there is a trainer at my gym that has the worst B.O you could think of. Dude smells like he stuffed rotten onions and dog shit into his pockets. I know as soon as I walk in the place if he is there or not. Feel bad for his clients, they are all older and I guess never say anything about it.

        Maybe he wears Sex Panther.

New trainers. They think they have to impress clients by working them to death. They have no idea how to adjust the training according to client's fitness level. I see that shit all day long

I don't see why overweight people cant do plyometric excercise and suggest you refrain from your sizeist prejudice on this board. Also doubt you actually knew the weight of the people do your comments are a guess anyway.

Perhaps ask the personal trainer next time what their process of thought was
            :agreed:

Askin an overweight out of shape person to do box jump simply is asking for injury. Their joints, tendons, ligaments or muscles are not conditioned to handle that kind of stress.

Would you let someone do 400 pounds of squats with in first week of their training regimen? Regardless of being fat or skinny. So why would you throw the fat person in to the deep end make them do all the insane shit because that kind of training is the current flavor of the month?

I was going to respond, but Beast nailed it.

Mr. I, you've turned into the biggest troll I have seen. "Sizeist prejudice?" LOL.... If I wasn't a mod and had to keep track of what is posted, you would be on my ignore list a long time ago.

Yes but I said that just.because someone is overweight doesn't mean they can't do plyometric. I played alot of rugby in my time and honestly bro some of those guys looked properly out of shape but were shockingly quick and fit and resilient.

The folks I was referring to didn't "look" out of shape. They WERE out of shape. We are not talking about a 350lb NFL lineman here, who obviously can do plyo just fine.

Can you please just once stop acting stupid?
I clearly said it in my post "first week or two" don't give a shit about your linebacker. We are talking about out of shape people who hires personal trainers that thinks knowledge of the trainer is going to point them to the right direction.

Ok lol, I see what your saying, let us just assume he knew everything about
                        the individuals.

How is your training going bro?

I see you insist on keeping the stupid act.

When you see fat and out shape person in the gym with their trainer you don't have to assume anything. What you see is what it is.

how high was the box? I am a big fan of plyos and train many people in that everyday. but they are all fighters and not fat,lol but still a fat person can do plyos as long as it isnt crazy. kinda like a common sence thing.
