  • Did a total upper body workout, felt good!

I have been doing a push/pull split for a long time, but being a bit constrained for time due to work commitments, I decided to do a full upper body workout yesterday...

Chest - DB press and dips, 3 sets each
Back - Pulldowns and rows, 3 sets each
Tris - Behind the neck DB raises and tri pushdowns, 3 sets each
Bis - BB curls and DB hammer curls - 3 sets each.

Finished in a little more than 1 hour. Felt great yesterday and feel great today. I don't know if I will do this every time, but definitely made me think about overtraining.

I have been consciously cutting back on volume and haven't seen any loss of size or strength. Only difference is my joints don't complain any more. Definitely incorporating a lot more running and outdoor stuff into my routine - great for the mind too.

A good overtraining session every now and then can serve a purpose. Body gets used to the same old push pull routine over and over. This might be just what you need for a kick in the ass.

Nice scrum, I've been hitting an upper/lower body circuit for the last month, . It's nice not aching in the joints all the time!

10-12 reps. My joints feel better that way, staying at 8 reps or higher. I think I am done setting PRs.

Try the same thing next time but with reps of 20-25. 60sec between sets or 120

Got to try that. I haven't done that many reps in anything other than bodyweight exercises.

I got good results by doing 3 sets per exercise and a maximum of 12 sets per workout. 10-12 reps are good.
