A lot of those guys are power lifters it looks like. One of my buddies trains for strength and never does bicep curls. Anyone think this can be prevented had their biceps of been stronger from doing curls (assuming they didn't do any curls to begin with).

No its the opposite, some powerlifters avoid curls because they don't want to shorten the muscle or create tension while deadliftingOriginally posted by TrapsBrah View PostA lot of those guys are power lifters it looks like. The biggest mistake you can make deadlifting is to flex the bicep. You should hold your arms straight flexing the tricep a bit. This ensures the bicep is off.

Look I don't even know if curling shortens the muscle. I'm just saying that some powerlifters avoid it citing this reason. It certainly stands to reason that if you had really intense dohms after a bicept session two days earlier and you came to deadlift they may be a tad shortened stiff and more liable to I jury.Originally posted by Bouncer View PostHow about hammer curls Mr I? Seems to me they don't flex the bicep in the same way? It stays elongated rather then shortening up with a normal curl.
I once made the mistake of bracing with the bicep or brachial and my tendon crackled under my arm. Never happened again but I do t really worry to think hard on keeping the arm straight until I get up in weight
It's funny though because if you look at some old shots of Franco columbo deadlifting you can see his biceps flexing hard
