  • Home gym concept

I am thinking about starting to put together a home gym so I can spend more time with my family, what do you think of this setup:

I already have a nice bench, dip station and recumbent bike.

Looks like it would cover most bases for you. I do a similar thing at my house but I just use the bare floor for deadlifts. My bench does incline, flat, decline, leg station for hamstrings and quads on the end with preacher curl setup as well. Squat area behind the bench. Dumbbells, a power tower and a total gym. If I had room I would have preferred a squat rack but even with all this I can get creative enough to get all my needed excercizes in effectively.

It is nice because I don't have to drive anywhere, don't have to pick up after myself, I get to use chalk and grunt, nobody's sick ass germs all over my shit, no interruptions. I love it.

Only thing I know about home gyms is that everyone that starts lifting at home as opposed to a normal gym slowly gets smaller and or more out of shape. I had this argument with rocket for years about his home gym. One day he went back to a normal gym after years of training at home and straight up admitted that he had forgotten the feeling of competition in the gym and pushing yourself harder. He sold his home gym and joined back up to a normal gym..

The home is too comfortable a place to get yourself into the mental state needed to properly train IMO. But I understand that people have different goals so maybe it will work out perfectly.

Does it really take that much time away from being with your family or is their something specific you don't like about your gym? Long drive or something?
