  • Training while sick?

Dealing with a bit of a cold. Here's my problem. If I skip gym and "rest" my mind suffers. Gym has always been a drug for me, anxiety and tension just melts aways.

Does working out actually prolong a cold? Or is their some truth to "sweating it out"? What to do!? :panic:

Should rest it off. Spreading your sickness to everyone at the gym tsk tsk tsk. Lol. I've read up on it before and the conclusion is generally to rest it off. Something about weakened immune response when the body is trying to repair muscle as well as fight a cold so you end up prolonging the sickness.

They key question is, will the workout depress your immune system. Answer; if you go balls to the wall yes, if you go 50% your ok with a cold. But it's really about how you feel

Keep your germs at home. No reason to tax your system. You body is trying to fight an infection, let it does it thing. Lay down and watch some TV. Your muscles aren't going anywhere.

Take a walk. Enjoy the great California weather. Your muscles will be fine.

I went. It's mild, only bothers me at night. During day its all dried up. I need to get the aggression out and only weights do it. Plus it was raining this morning scrum. That's my excuse. :D

Exactly why I train at home. Sickness all over the equipment. It's like rolling around on a toilet. Yuckie

Join a gym chuck. The drive and competition needed isn't available at home. Home is a place of relaxation and peace. Gym is supposed to warrior hell!

It's all in the mind bro. My garage is anything but relaxation. Focus regardless of environment.

Blah blah. You put a couple gods in there to train along side you and see if you don't push just a little harder.

A good training partner maybe but just watching other people no. I used to have a gym membership to golds ages ago and I never watched other people. Totally tunnel visioned.

Now that I think about it, I don't know if that makes me wierd. I didn't even scope out females or anything. I just did my shit and left. I'm not one to rubber neck accidents or anything like that either. My situational awareness could probably use some work.

Not watching people. But aware of someone in the gym that may be better than you. Say what you want. If some monster is in the gym it reminds you and makes you think clear that you have a long way to go. Private place of your own by definition becomes a comfort zone. Argued this with rocket for years. Let's agree to disagree on this one.
