  • Platelet-rich plasma injections

Seeing the specialist on Friday. We spoke for about 30mns or so in regards of options with NO surgery. He mentioned this type of procedure that's been gaining popularity.

I'm opting out for no because I'd rather go with therapy; but it's whether or not I go to therapy is the thing.

Btw this is about my rotator cuff. In all seriousness, shit hurts all the time and getting worse. But hey, I did chest yesterday and my workout was good! Once the shoulder/muscles are all warmed up, I don't feel shit.

It's the after effect, fuck that's painful.

Hey Rado, go for it bro you wont regret it. I had it done for my shoulder and i have ZERO! pain where i once had it. Best decision i ever made! I will def be doing my knees for my patella tendonitis this year.

Why are you thinking of not doing it just out of curiosity?

Dude what's up! ?!? Well I've always been very weird about surgeries, injections like cortisol etc type stuff lol....I know and I stick myself with gear all the time ha.

Back to topic....few years back, I had to get titanium rods into my forearm, not sure if you remember or not. Well ever since that has happened, I feel as if maybe it's accelerated my injury? It may just be in my head but I'm quirky that way.

Let me ask you this? How was it done? Same day, did you feel pain afterwards, are you back to reg stuff with no pain, any follow up or future injections are needed?

Any info you'd like to post, I'd appreciate that :)

The what I won't want is to have this done and boom, shit backfires or gets worse ya know?

One more thing, how long were you out of commission? That is my BIGGEST dilemma. We put so much work into ourselves and bam! Now it's time to rest?!?! Ugh

It really comes down to something pretty simple. If it's getting worse and hurting all the time you gotta listen or you will be forced to listen by your body. So either rest and see it it gets better or get it fixed.

Aight Rado so I specifically did stem cell therapy using my fat tissue in combination with my red blood cell. In and out same day, and my shoulder felt as if I injected 3cc's in five areas around my shoulder; so you know what that feels like, my shoulder was just tight. I had it done for a labrel tear(partial) and rotator cuff tear. Your down time may not be as long depending on what it is that is injured. You just have to take it easy as it heals.

If you are doing just PRP, Platlet Rich Plasma, they will just draw blood, spin it a centrafuge to serparte the four compnents of blood and then take the plasma or the red blood cells and then they simply inject it on top of or into the muscle/tendon. That's it! In and out same day.

The red blood cells act kind of like a bandage that seals the tear together, If you do the stem cells in combo with the blood it will actually build new tissue!! My story...After the procedure (A month) I was putting air into my bicycle tire and felt like someone stabbed me in the shoulder with a knife, it hurt bad. Freaking out I called the doc and she said no biggie I just tweeked the new tissue since it was weak cause it was so new. I wasnt able to put any pressure on it but sure enough the tissue kept growing got stranger and Rado, I good to go man. Its strong and I have no issues with it.

The best thing you can do is hit youtube up, type in prolotherapy and learn away. Its good stuff. If you have the money do the stem cell therapy form your fate tissue. My doc charged me $1700. Had to get the fat from my ass cause Im skinny but its literally liposuction, she made a cut in my but cheek and liquified the fat with a rod, then pulled the liquified fat out with a cyringe and mixed the blood cells and liquified fat together and strted injecting in my shoulder. I have a high pain tolerance and that was just a weired pain, if she got close to the muscle tissue it hurt a lot. Like a 10 out of 10 pain scale.

Why the hell were you not out for that? Fuck being awake while they suck fat out of your ass and inject it into your shoulder lol.

B it was nuts man, lol they gave a me a muscle relaxer and I did ask if I could be out for that and it was a NO. But it doesn't hurt as long as they don't hit the muscle tissue and they didn't so it really isn't all that bad.

Hey man, thanks so much for extensive info:thumb:

That's cheap if that'll be the cost. Woken up this morning in more pain, well it's more sensitive for sure. It literally has been getting this way by the day smh....honestly if it's like you say, yeah I'm in then.

To be honest, I don't even know what it is to live with no pain in that area because it's been this way for many years. My GF is going to speak to her coworkers and physician she's assigned too and see their thoughts as well.

Again thank man and you should post more often, we could use members like you who have some sort of sense :D

I'll check with my insurance to see if and what's covered, if any.

Not covered by insurance, for sure I can tell you that. $1700 was the total cost for just my shoulder. Different doc offices charge different amounts for diff body parts.

Saw the doc and long story short, I barely have anything left in regards of tissue; it's all worn degenerative gone wrong lol....I'll see if I can get copies of the MRI so I can post.

Doc is surprised I can still lift in ways I do. I tell him it's definitely not easy, but being stubborn is what gets me through and well hurt as well.

I have an appointment next week with a specialist to hear their opinion or conclusion.

This plasma injection is not covered by my insurance and the costs could varry. Ultimately the cost is worth it no matter what.

I honestly don't know what it is to feel pain free in many years. I may just give in, but we'll see on the next visit.
