  • Frequency of training

How often can you train a body part? I thought it was every 48 Hrs. But i'm hearing that you should only train it once a week. Please advise. Thanks in advance for your input.

once a week is best for most people. some can get away with more. but once should be plenty.

LArge muscle groups require longer rest.. so the standard is once every 7-8 days, smaller muscle groups recover faster so they can be trained once every 3-5 days. I'd stick with once a week and you'll be fine.

I've been training a muscle group once a week. I think I will stick with that. Thanks again for the advice.

if you can lift the same weight with the same body part eod then you aren't training it hard enough.

holy shit are you guys serious. I train every three to four days. So I will do legs on sunday, back, biceps and traps on thurs. and then chest shoulder and triceps on monday. that works out to about the same bodypart every other week or so. no wonder guys have a hard time gaining, way to frequent in your training. the fact that a specific muscle has recovered says nothing about your body as a whole recovering-two very different animals.

N&M, how new are you? These are all very experienced guys telling you what they are doing. You may need to tailor things a little bit different if you are a rookie. Let me know...

Your plan is very good, and well grounded.

Mentally though, and this is just me, I would literally NUTZ if I didn't train 5-6 days a week. My body needs the release of energy or else I feel all wound up, or wound day.

Love training first thing in the am, makes my motor run sweet for whole day.

Too each his own, find what works for you.

I am just different, I like to plan for results. that is what motivates me not the actual training. I like to find other releases in life.

I do my best to destroy the muscle group that I`m working on any given day. Usually takes 3-4 days to recover. Therefore once a week.

Eeryones body is differant and responds as such to training frequency and rest. I rotate between 3 and 4 days of rest for each muscle group (it works for me). I tried resting 7 days for each muscle group, but wasnt making gains and felt weaker at each workout. The point is you need to try different thing to see what works for you. When i fisrt started BBing i was able to work each muscle everyother day and still make good gains but as we get stronger we need more rest. But i believe that overresting is as bad as overtraining
