  • Diet Advice for My Wife

First, thank you all for these forums. I was reading them with my wife, and she wanted me to post for her regarding her diet.

    Her stats are as follows:

    Weight: 155lbs
    Lean Mass: 126lbs

BF% (done through both underwater weighing and caliper tests): 18-19%

She is very active, as she trains for triathlons; however, she is looking to lose some more body fat.

Right now her diet includes three meals a day, primarily lower fat, eating about 2100 kcal a day.

    Any ideas?

    Respectfully,

    Jason

She needs a complete diet overhaul. A diet of about 60% protein, 20% carbs and 20% fats would be a good starting point. Carbs should be coming from whole grains, oats, brown rice, green veggies, sweet potatos, not from bread, pasta and sugars. Keep the fats simple, olive oil and flax oils are good, no butter. Protein from chicken breasts, lean beef, egg whites, lowfat cottage cheese, and fish, no crap like fast food burgers. Get her to eat small meals often, at least 5 times a day, 6 would be better. Drinking a gallon or more a day of water is important, keep diet sodas to a minimum for the sodium levels. Dairy is killer if you're trying to lose weight so if she drinks milk, get her to stop for a while.

There are a few threads here with sample diets. Read them to get basic ideas and put something together for your wife.

You can also get her to join the board here! The more she reads on her own the better she'll understand the reasoning behind it all.

Cardio is a good metabolism booster, especially early in the morning before eating. Lifting weights will change her body nicely, get her training in the gym!

Thanks for your reply and sorry it has taken to long for me to write back.

We have started a diet together, which includes a higher amount of protein, smaller but more frequent meals, high fiber, and the right types of carbs.

        I'll post progress.

        Respectfully,

        ~JAson

          An update...

          Puddles:

By the way, my wife is here with me; she just doesn't want to do the typing.

She says that she has a "large rear" (her words).

She has lost ~10 lbs on a combination of your higher protien diet, and looks great, but wants a booty more like Jessica Simpson...

I have attached pics with her permission.

Her workouts are triatholon training type workouts with some weights as well...

          Advice?

          Respectfully,
          J & H.
