  • Cardio and Preserving Muscle

If I do cardio and abs in the morning on an empty stomach, do I still need to ingest carbs right after? Does it matter if I plan to hit the weights later on that day?
Also, when I do cardio and am in my target zone then bring the intensity level down, I find I can stay in my target zone even longer at that lower intensity, should I stay there as long as I possibly can? or do I risk burning muscle?
I want to lose bodyfat and maintain or even build more muscle?

People will be more likely to respond if you title yor thread in a more mature way.

I didn't think so many people would be turned off by it. I thought it may actually get more attention because of the frustration in it.

Tuffy I am of the opinion that it is too catabolic to go for an extended period time without food, even after cardio. I think you should consume carbs after cardio, BUT I think you should use amino's b4 and after cardio to help aid in fat loss. I have used this method with great success.... 30 minutes b4 cardio amino load ( like extreme formulations "ICE" and Optimum Nutritions "AMINO 2222).

Do interval cardio instead of regular for better fat loss.

After cardio immediately amino load, wait 20 minutes and have whey protein drink and piece of tropical fruit. This is what I recommend for most everyone. You can check my post

It will be almost impossible well lets just say impossible to not lose any muscle while you shed bf... just the way it is.... sorry

Hit your weights later on in the day it will be fine. I would also recommend using the amino loading here as well b4 and after.

Make sure you consume the most food from whole food sources. Too many shakes will hinder progress IMO and they do not contain enough fiber. Keep your protein high while dieting and doing cardio this is a must when trying to preserve muscle.

        Good luck to you

        PD

BTW change the way you worded your post. We have had allot of Ahole newbies around here lately being nasty..... soo you may want to do that.

Thanx, the amino loading sounds like a really good idea. What do u think about aminos before bed I have been taking glutamine before bed. Is it ok to have 4-5 egg whites if I'm up late and get hungry? or a scoop of protein with water it has 113calories, 24g protein & 2g sugar. or nothing? I heard it was good to have protein before bed.

I know this might be a dumb question but I can't figure out how to change my post.

Amino's b4 bed is outstanding and in the morning when you rise, I do it myself. The extreme formulations ICE that I mentioned has glutamine in it as well. FYI amino's help with your sugar cravings when you are dieting and they drastically lower cortisol levels.

The egg whites are fine, or you can eat mixed nuts without peanuts in them too. If you want to consume protein use something that has more than whey in it at night time. You are really better off eating casein at bedtime. It will gel in the stomach and slowly be digested.

Click the edit button underneath your user info and go from there. If that does not wrk let me know and we will get it taken care of for you. Just let me know what you want it to say in a pm and i will tell a mod or you can do the same.

            PD

I've been loading up w/the aminos. I' m also going to look for extreme formulations, sounds good especially w/ the glutamine in it . I thought casein was a sugar, and that's why I specificlly didn't get a protein that contained it , because I would be taking it at night.
I tried the edit button, it is not responding. I was thinking of changing it to cardio & preserving muscle.
Thank you so much for your help.

I sent a pm to a mod ( Red Squirrel). That should take care of it.
