  • Advice on workout for pregnancy.

    Hello

I need your help, I just found out that I am pregnant. I am little bit scared cause this is going to be my first child. Anyways, the question that I have is what kind of workouts can I do that is beneficial for me.

    Thanks

All I know is what our doctor told us. That you can keep doing anything you were already doing since your body is use to it. Just don't start a new activity. So if you had a workout program before, just keep doing it.

Do what my girl didn't and keep working out. A strong mid-section will help during delivery, so make sure to keep working your abdominals.

Make sure you do your pelvic floor exercises too, they really help during delivery and as you get older....

My wife did the pregnacy videos and her reagular tread mill work outs. I agree with the rest just stick with what you are doing already and keep the stomach muscles strong

^ :agree: Make sure you dont go to heavy on the squats as already mentioned, and my wifes doctor told her no crunches after the first trimester, but to continue everything else as she had always done. Let pain be your guide was his instruction, if it hurts stop, and dont do it anymore.

Also....don't let your body tempature get to high as it can cause problems with the fetus' development. No heavy cardio or activities which cause you to sweat too much or get really hot. If you're hot....the baby is hot as well. Make sure to get plenty of fluids during your workout as you are supplying for two now :)

working out will be a great addition to keeping healthy for a baby. Your body needs to be strong and a lot of women make the mistake of taking it easy thinking they might hurt the baby. But think of the millions of babies that have been born since man first started and they had conditions much worse off. Just use common sense and make sure your breathing is perfect when exerting.

Dont go for the burn, Dont let that lactic acid build in your system, It can be bad for the baby.

Thanks a lot for all the wonderful information and advice! Wish me luck kind of scared and nervous and the same time.

I also heard that Yoga is a wonderful form of endurance and strengthing and that it does wonders on the physical and mental development on the foetus. So i bought a couple of tapes, to keep me in shape!

Hi bjbabe! This is my EXPERTISE!!! lol,

You want to keep doing cardio, and lean your workouts more towards the cardio aspect. You have to REALLY keep an eye on your heart rate during... you have a higher heart rate because your body is sustaining new life inside you and so it's pumping a lot harder. Running is probably too strenous for your heart and as you have already noticed your heart rate gets VERY HIGH VERY FAST.

As for weight training, keep it up but realize you won't be making any muscle gains anymore... everything will be going to that baby. Once you are through the 1 st trimester, (into your 4th month) you CAN NOT lift or do any excercises while lying on your back flat. It causes a lack of oxygen to the fetus and can cause miscarriage or brain damage... this is crucial to remember!

I mainly would walk on a treadmil at 4.2 for like 35 minutes everyday and lift lightly.

Also don't lift on your back muscles... they are working hard because of all your weight in your belly and you could really pull them easily now than before.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I just wish that my boyfriend was more understanding and sympathetic about the whole thing.
