  • Test as maintenance ?

46 yrs 5` 9" 170 lbs bf15% fitness training lifelong, but dedicated lifting just 18 months.

I am trying to resurrect a tired old body, much abused by years of M\Cycle sport, coal mining, and lastly the low test - high cortisol environment found in driving instruction.... (the job sucks)!
Training so far has provided loss of 20lbs fat, and a small but even growth of all muscles, training also provided a torn supra spinoter and a herniated disc, L4 and L5 almost touch (joys of age) LOL

My goal is to create a stable but androgenic situation that will allow gradual growth, and keep body fat under control, 15% may sound ok, but seems to be an oversize effort to stay at that level ....Cardio 4-5 times pw at 45 min Calories approx 3000 split into 6 meals, diet clean.

I have not had a blood test, but I strongly suspect my test\cortisol ratio is messed up, I use a variety of natural test boosters with some success.

My big question to the experienced guys here, is would a weekly\fortnightly regimen of Low dose Test on semi-permanent basis be a safe and more effective alternative to the Tribulus?

Get your blood work first if you are truly looking at HRT( Hormone Repalcement Therapy), as this is a life long endeavor that can and does get your T levels back to where they should be. Also to answer 1 question you had, a low dose of weekly test is much better than OTC regardless of what it is. Good luck and continued success. Congrats on your improvements thus far and sorry to hear about your lower back.

    PD

Do you have any cycle exp.? Don't loose hope at all, sounds like your doing great at 46 and at that age 18 months is a great start. Results will come slower but just keep focused.

HRT is great if you need it. If you don't need it, you can hurt yourself. Have bloodwork done.

I'm 10 years older than you- 5'11" 210 lbs. 10% BF. Been training for more than half my life. I was all natural until about 2 years ago. I could still make gains, but I had to work much harder at it and watch my diet more closely. Had my test levels checked and my levels were indeed below normal. I went to a urologist and told him that my sexual desire had diminished, it really hadn't, but I wanted to get test injections. He recommended 200mg every two weeks of test Cypionate. I have been going to him every other week since. Plus, I managed to get my own test and started taking a shot the week I didn't go to him. So, I stay on 200mg test Enanthate/week year round. And, Every 12 weeks I do 400mg test Enan/week, plus 20mg. Anavar/day. 12 on 12 off. But every 6 months, I have blood work done to check everything out, especially liver function. This is a critical part of using anything regarding AAS. I have only gained about 8 lbs., but that's fine with me. My genetics have probably allowed all that I can get. IMO, I don't think getting on gear will hurt you if you go about it the right way. One good thing about being your age, you'll never have to worry about PCT. Just stay on a maintenance dose for the rest of your life. BB

I am a lifetime HRT'r also. I lost a testicle in a horrible accident that got my left nut infected so it swelled the size of a grapefruit... It had to be removed as a result. Yes it hurt and yes it sucks. But HRT has made things MUCH better.

Thanks for the replys guys, blood tests it is! ...hope testing is as freely available here as in US. generaly the attitude in our medical proffession is opposed to AAS.

"have you done any cycles in the past?"

This will be my first experience with streroids, no qualms regarding injections, just want to get it right.

For HRT there are other things besides injections. There is a product called Androgel, just rub it on your shoulders, abs or upper legs after u get out of the shower and it will put your levels where they should be. Allot of people prefer the shots however for true HRT it is great. There are not any fluctuations in T levels this way. I use it every day and my overall T level is always 800 ndgl or slighty better, and occasionally I throw a cycle in between doc. appointments. Hope this helps.

Androgel sounds a great product, expensive though! .....most likely I will choose Test CYP, based on price and availability.

I really appreciate this help, although there is a mass of info' freely available on most aspects of AAS, the bulk of its application is more relevent for younger users.

I like using test gel. It seems like a safe way to get test levels back to what they were when you were in your twenties. If you eat clean you can look like you are 27 from the neck down. I do

Androgel has the appeal that it offers a more stable release of hormone, but for me it would be counter - productive ....... at the the prices I have seen so far, my wife would remove my balls completely!!!

Test CYP' looks the most likely candidate, what concerns me is that if used on a fortnightly basis there are going to be some real highs and lows...?

Not if you use it regularly. Once weekly at 200mg works fine for me. It has slow release esters, so there is some always in your system until your next injection. BB

I was under the impression that if you had your blood work done that you would be under a insurance policy. I recommend this only under that pretense, otherwise then weekly injections of test would surely be better. I thought you were looking for HRT, and thus would be under a doctors care. My Bad.. Good luck and continued success.
