Catholicism from birth through oh about 18, 9 yrs. parochial shcool, with all the fun nuns and priests etc.
Drifted for a decade, then tried several different ones, then made my own decisions about things, long story, then a friend gave me a book on Budhists, and I ROFLMAO, it was several of the things I had decided upon on my own, so round about way guess a christian budhist, kind of hard to get that picture of the Holy Trinity out of my head, all in all though there are worse things in the world.
My thing is I don't believe in loading folks down with bucket loads of quilt, world is tough enough as it is.
Quilt and regret is the basis for negative self talk which leads to horrible stress and anxiety and bad decision making. And negative self-talk is so hard get rid of yet it can be down, all in all think it is the most prevalent problem that religions create. Too many of them preach perfection of which no one will ever achieve which only diminishes the joy of right now today.
Enough mumbling.

I'm a christian, although you couldnt tell it sometimes..but I dont think you have to be perfect for God...you dont stop loving your children when they do wrong and neither does He...I can tell you that I feel his presence every day...when I look at my boys or when I take a walk through the woods or look up at the night sky.....life is much too wonderful for it to merely be some astronomical cosmic coincidence.....I think the problems on this earth are caused by mans own desires and not by indifference by God...I think it is us who are indifferent to him..instead of being thankful for all the good in our life we dwell on the negative...this aint heaven..it was never promised as such..some say we are here by evolution...that you cant prove his existence..I feel God in my life, thats my proof...evolution cant be proved either..you cant make animate from inanimate...life had to be created...it is light years removed from mud and rock....even in its simplest form it is magical...........

I consider myself athiest. I was baptized catholic by my parents, but they never brought me to church or anything like that. Once I was old enough to think about it in an intelligent manner(around 14 or 15 when I started to consider it) I found it hard to believe in anything besides myself.

look at it like this..if you dont believe in GOD thats your desision..but what if in the end there is a GOD..you have nothing to loose by believing and having faith and giving thanks..being kind and helping others..this is how we should live anyway..but you have everything to loose if you dont believe and ine the end there is a GOD..it will be too late then..so why not believe..its not tht hard..it is a feelin you get inside..its hope..why not..

Re: What are your religious beliefs?
please do not insult somebody elses beliefs, mocking his belief and saying it is sad will not help this thread, only turn it into another hate on hate situation.Originally posted by MrsPuddlesFL
no arguing or rudeness towards other members beliefs.
As for myself, born into a christian family... throughout many mistakes and wrongs I still believe strongly in my faith in God. I also tend to follow a path that is more easy going towards sin, i try to focus on what is important.

if in the end, there really IS a god... then that god shouldn't care, right? or does that god hold grudges... cause if that's the case, then i'm not going to loose anything anyways :)Originally posted by telephone

saying something is sad is in affect looking down upon someone, whether or not you want to view it as that, it's how it comes across.. maybe if you said because I don't chose to believe something out of fear etc.. but what you said was an insult.
