To me the movie didnt really press the issue of "Jesus is god" (with the exception of the small devil scenes and the final 2scenes). And thats what I liked about it. You could walk away saying, maybe he was god, maybe he was crazy, bottom line is it doesnt matter. A guy went through something unbeleivable. They tortured him far more because of his claim to be the king of the Jews, then real the crooks on the cross beside him. They feared him ot a point of irrational cruelty. And while the tactics of war and punishment may have evolved somewhat, this fundemental fear and territorial nature still exists whithin us today. Its just expressed differently. Like putting airplanes into skyscrapers.

I saw it two nights ago and thought I was going to be sick after the movie. It was so unbelievably sad to see what he went through.
I dont think it was Anti Semetic at all, because thats how it was portrayed in the Bible. If thats what is said, then thats what Mel made the movie to be like. My opinion of Jews was not lessened. I do not think anything bad of them, only the ones who did it to him. Just as if it were any race who would condem someone who preached only good things.
I think the movie was done very well, but was a little hard to watch at times. :(
