Working as a server sucks, working as someone who cleans the tables sucks, working in retail sucks. I think its kinda rude not to leave an appropriate tip. I'm not trying to be an ass, I've worked in that situation and hated it and hated when people shorted me. I always leave atleast a 15% tip, unless the server sucked. Then I don't leave a tip.

When I waitressed in high school, I hated it because people can be so mean. But remember that waiters and waitresses have GREAT memories. Those who tip bad, are remembered. I am not saying that everyone will do something gross, but you may bump into a few who do.
