Originally posted by goliath you guys are missing my point. my point is that a perfect being has no need for creation of anything. a truly perfect being just is.
So...are you asking why God created mankind and the universe or are you saying he created it because he isn't perfect? Either way, if you had Gods powers...what would you have done? Wouldn't you want to create something as wonderful as he did? Creation doesn't mean imperfection!
I have a question, who created god? I mean I know he supposed to be just there but how can that be? And for all the people who believe in the big bang theory, who created the stuff that made the big bang. I mean something just cant "bang" when there is nothing there to begin with. This should be good. Buncha people trying to explain something they know nothing about. I love it. lol

This is why I'm agnostic. I don't have any strong convictions that there is a god but I also can't say there definitely isn't one. There are so many different religions and beliefs. I've given up on trying to figure it out.
...my belief is that God is a force, not a cartoon character, a statue or a man, per se. Christ was a man, and a manifestation of divinity in his realization that man has within him God, or godlike qualities. Christ was an actualized being, hence his being worshipped as God. Christ said "even the least among you can do all these and greater things", understanding the (potential) divinity within us all. God is love, peace, goodness; an energy. That's why it doesn't make sense to view God as a "dude who allows all these awful things to take place; starvation, war, etc. God doesn't have a damn thing to do with those things. God is love. Love is the person helping the hungry, working for peace, etc. The spirit of kindness which exists EVEN IN SPITE OF ALL THE BAD STUFF. That is where God lives, and the more we choose to act accordingly, the closer we come to God (love, peace, happpiness, etc.) Choose well; as you sow, so shall you reap!
well put milwood. i suggest you read a book titled "Conversations With God". i cant remember the authors name though. i think you would agree with what a lot of what the author has to say.

this always bothers me bro, it's tough to get around that idea.. but I mean at the same point take evolution... even if it was possible for a couple cells to form a planet where'd the cells come from ? life is too damn confusing, this is why i stick to lifting.
and no just because something is written doesnt mean you should follow....only if its in the Holy Bible or the rule book of which ever religion you choose.

So in other words, god is just something made up in the human mind? Not trying to argue bro, just pointing things out.

How do you know that they are gods words though? How do you know it wasnt written by someone who made the whole damn thing up? There are alot of things in the bible that are very questionable bro. I do believe that there is something that had to create us but I do not believe in a book written by a human.
There are approximately 7,000 different religions in the world.
What does that tell you?
Different strokes for different folks, in general though it is all a believe system, and believes may or may not be supported by facts.
IMHO, a bunch of guys sitting around a campfire made up this thing called god to control the restless natives, you have to remember for centuries man worshiped the craziest of things .
My personal beliefs are those that milwood talked of .
They are mine, chosen based upon years of searching and asking all the similar questions posed.
In the end when it is all boiled down, it is your own decision to choose what to belief, it is called FREEDOM.
One of the things I do not like about a high degree of religions is they adopt the believe system is you don't AGREE with me you are WRONG, and there is something inherently bad about you, rightly or wrongly trying to impose a guilt trip.
Which is emotionally harmful, and always violates what they say they profess to belief, kindness and caring, well, that attitude is the exact opposite.
Here's what my god tells me every day, grab and drink a big gulp from the joy cup of life, I want you to have a smashing good time, and while you are doing that, please do not harm others.
Drink up, the only time we can feel and experience joy is right now.
